Leeson Ah Mau Visit 2023

Leeson Ah Mau popped in to visit a number of senior students last week to share his journey as a recently retired NRL player.

After playing nearly 13 years of professional rugby league, including over 200 NRL games for the Warriors and most recently St George Dragons, Leeson now runs a Sports Wellbeing program, where he travels to schools to share his experience and journey, and to encourage our young men at St Paul's on what it takes to be a professional sportsman. Our senior students were given jackets, balls and mouthguards as resources for the remainder of the season.

His key messages to our students were:

  1. Education is important, Always have a Plan B. You are only an injury away from retirement.
  2. No excuses - Have a solution focused mindset.
  3. Have patience, discipline and perseverance. Success might not happen straight away, unless you work hard and be patient.
  4. Learning to make sacrifices for things you want and love.

We thank Leeson for taking the time to speak to our students and sharing his journey with us, and we wish him all the best in the next chapter of his career.
