St Paul’s College began as a Marist School on Pitt Street in 1884. St Paul’s College, Ponsonby, was opened in 1955 when Sacred Heart College was relocated to Glen Innes.

Marist education is based on a vision that is truly holistic and that consciously seeks to communicate gospel values.

St Marcellin Champagnat, the founder of the Marist Brothers, believed that “to bring up children properly, we must love them, and love them all equally”.

It is from this principle that the early Marists developed their particular education vision.

Education within the Marist tradition is characterised by:

  • Family
  • Presence
  • Simplicity
  • Love of work
  • In the way of Mary

We are guided by two principles: RESPECT and RESPONSIBILITY
